We are the November Nightingales - families who are adopting from China and were DTC or have a LID around November 2006.

(Web site is new - but I will be working on it more soon. Most of the links to the left do not go to any pages yet.)

Hello everyone!

1)I will eventually make the colors on the site match the logo, but as far as I can tell we are not 100% decided on the logo yet - so I will hold off on changing the colors on it until that is certain. I can also make buttons for the links on the left, but I would like to make them similar to the logo too - so I will hold off on that also.

2) Information people can send in for the site:

- If anyone wants to write something for the About Us page, please do, I'm not that good at writing that kind of a thing up.

- For the Links page - if people want to send in links, please do that also.

- I will pull the pictures for the nursery page from the database (see below)

- And, sorry - I haven't been able to keep up with all the emails - if someone could send me a summary of what the group is doing for gift exchanges, quilts, etc. - please send that in and I will put it on the site too.

- And if anyone has a WC referral already - send in the information

You can either email the information to me or send it to the group, whatever is easier.

3) The 'Families' page. I have been working on this a lot, but mostly not visible stuff. I set up a database for our information so I don't have to hand code it all on the pages. I don't have a way for people to enter their own information though, so people will have to send it to me and I have to manually enter it into the database for now - but it displays automatically.

If you go to the families page now: http://november-nightingales.redthreadlove.com/families.php - you will see 1)two 'families' listed 2) I haven't done much with the formatting here either - I'll make the colors match once we have that all settled.

If you click on either of the family names you should get a prompt for a password - I haven't given it out yet - but I want to show people how I have the information protected.

The plan is to have some information shown publicly and some only to members of the group - to be seen when clicking on a family's name.

Public information: family name (public version), country, state, agency, dtc, LID, blog, a picture, referral date, referral picture, nursery picture, short intro

Private: family name (private version), mailing address, email address, 'extra' information.

You can of course leave any of this information out and it won't be shown to anyone. I'm not going to make any kind of legally binding guarantee about the how safe your information will be. People will have to have a log in and password to access it - but there is no way of knowing that someone in the group won't give out the password to someone else. Also, if someone uses a public computer and doesn't close the browser, etc. someone else could in theory come along and access the information.

The following is what I would like for people to send me (I don't think I should get it from the Yahoo group without people's permission) :

1) family name as you want it to appear publicly - for example maybe you wouldn't want to use a last name.

2) family name as you want it to appear to members of the group only.

3) the country you live in

4) the state or province, etc you live in

5) your mailing address

6) email address (feel free to send it like: john at whatever dot com)

7) blog address

8) dtc date

9) LID

10) agency

11) family picture for the public side of the site

12) referral dates (when you get them obviously!)

13) referral picture (when you get it obviously!)

14) nursery picture

15) an intro that will be shown publicly (eg. " Hello! We are Trisha and Thom and we are waiting for our first child. etc. ")

16) extra information - if you have a longer intro, more pictures, etc. - send those here to be posted to the private/members only page.

I may have left something out, but that's a good start anyway! Maybe we could eventually put pictures of people's quilts? any other ideas?
